Manti Te’o Hoax: Dr. Phil – Day 2

RonaiahDrPhil2

The intense conclusion to Ronaiah Tuiasosopo’s interview with Dr. Phil aired yesterday and while even the host ended the show with telling the viewers that it was up to them to believe the hoaxer’s sincerity, what was actually said and done was pretty crazed.

In the hour-long closer:

  • Ronaiah revealed that he had been molested and raped for years, beginning at age 12, at the hands of a family friend; a pastor and youth minister: ‘I felt that I couldn’t do things, accomplish things, pursue things, live out as Ronaiah,” Tuiasosopo said. ”And I felt the need to create this (the “Lennay” character). It has everything to do with what I went through as a child.” It was also explained that it has been his only sexual experiences — hence the confusion about being gay from part 1.
  • he never told his parents, especially his father — because he thought he’d lose him again (his dad, Titus expressed that because of his career (oddly enough, as a football player), he was out of his child’s life for many of his early years).
  • his parents were asked straight out how they would react with their child was actually gay: “He is still my son, and we love him unconditionally,” his father said.

But the craziest revelation? Oh, you gotta head after the jump for that — because it’s still blowing my mind a day later!

Manti Te’o Hoax: Ronaiah Might Be Gay

RonaiahDrPhile

Well, this officially went from kind of funny to kind of sad.

The man behind “Lennay Kekua”, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo pretty much came clean with the entire crazy story that tied him to ex-Notre Dame football player Manti Te’o on Dr. Phil yesterday, but it turned into a huge other mess when he admitted that not only was he in love with Manti, but he felt that he “suffered” from homosexuality and was desperately hoping to be “cured”.

“If you look at this situation and everything that I’ve been through, I would say yeah I’m gay. But honestly I’m so confused”, he stated during the sit down.

“It takes a lot of courage to recover from homosexuality and this type of thing and coming back to your real life. As hard of a task it is, I’m going to do all I can to live right.”

Obviously someone is not living right.

Dr. Phil obviously saw this and promised to get him some kind of help in the future.

“I have so much to say to you about what you just said”, he responded as heartfelt as possible, “because a lot of it bothers me so much. But we will talk about that another time.”

As someone who has dealt with issues like these from other people way more times than I’d like to admit to, I truly hope he gets the help he obviously needs.

Check out the interview clip after the jump.

Manti Te’o Hoax: “Lennay” Might Be Gay. Maybe.

RonaiahToday

So you think the entire story behind Manti Te’o's fake “girlfriend” is the most confusing thing you’ve ever bore witness to? Try telling that to Dr. Phil.

As previously mentioned, the Oprah tag-along got first dibs on the interview with the man behind the hoax, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo. But during the sit-down (which is set to air in a few days, the Hawaiian behind “Lennay Kekua” admitted that he fell in love with the ex-Notre Dame player, but wasn’t exactly sure if that made him gay.

Dr. Phil dropped by the Today Show this morning to give some tidbits.

“Here we have a young man that fell deeply, romantically in love,” Phil said of Ronaiah.

“I ask him straight up … was this a romantic relationship with you? And he says, ‘Yes.’”

Phil continued … “I said, are you then, therefore, gay?  And he says, ‘Well, when you put it that way, yes.’”

Phil says Ronaiah then “caught himself” and said, “I am confused.”

When the person causing the confusion is confused himself, you know there’s some serious craziness going on there!

Phil did express that Ronaiah came completely clean about the entire thing, but he blamed it all on things from his past that left him “damaged”.

Check out the “damage” after the jump.

“Lennay Kekua” Finally Speaks

xlarge

We all heard all of the excuses reasons Manti Te’o held back on revealing the truth about his fake girlfriend and now, we’re gonna hear from “her” as well.

The man behind the huge hoax, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo sat down with Dr. Phil yesterday to watch the Katie Couric interview and give his side of the story, which will air sometime next week.

According to sources, Phil’s interview with Ronaiah is “emotional and deep.” It’s expected to air some time next week.

Ronaiah has yet to address the public about his alleged involvement in the Manti hoax — even though Manti has already said Ronaiah privately confessed to concocting the whole thing.

Also, it’s been revealed that the voice behind “Lennay Kekua”  actually was that of a female — Tuiasosopo’s 20-year-old cousin, Tino — an American Samoa resident who decided to join in the ruse “after she was dumped from a long-distance relationship with another man — and there were “extraordinary similarities” between the two situations.”

So, she Catfished because she was Catfished.

That whole family is nuts.

Manti Te’o – The Jig Is Officially Up

MantiKatie

Well, that explains everything and of course, there was some gayness involved.

However, it came from the other side of the story.

Disgraced college footballer Manti Te’o finally told his full side of the “Lennay Kekua” story to Oprah Winfrey Katie Couric earlier today and with his admission came even more to the story of lies, phone calls, admissions, apologies and slightly even more confusion.

As we tend to do with continuous crazy stories like these, it’s time for the bullet points. Head on after the jump for the updates.
