Ballroom Cheating Blitz

Nicolas Sarkozy Awarded Appeal of Conscience 2008 World Statesman Award at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York

In what was probably the wrong idea considering it’s competitive nature, ABC’s Dancing With The Stars did everything they could to get disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong onto the floor for it’s upcoming season.

However, probably realizing it for them, the ex-medal holder decided it was best not to participate, even though the show has been gunning for him to take part since it’s inception.

Producers asked Armstrong to take part in the next installment, set to air this Spring, but the former professional cyclist again said no. Show insiders tell us DWTS is interested in casting him now more than ever, after his headline-grabbing Oprah Winfrey interview, in which he admitted to doping. “The higher-ups feel he is exactly what the show needs to bring back viewers,” says one source.

“Lance has been offered the show each and every year since its inception. Although flattered he has passed on their generous offers,” a spokesperson for Armstrong tells us. (EW first broke the story.)

In another odd turn of events, the show has recently requested another hot mess, Lindsay Lohan, to join the show — but she, too, has declined (even though they apparently offered her over half-a-million dollars).

Guess she’s still hoping to make some massive bank off of Scary Movie 5.

Sheryl Crow — Mum’s The Word

15th Annual An Unforgettable Evening Benefiting EIF's Women's Cancer Research Fund - Arrivals

It’s not as if we needed Sheryl Crow to say anything when it came to Lance Armstrong‘s doping scandal — he pretty much said all there is. But during a sit down with Entertainment Tonight, the “Soak Up The Sun” singer (who was obviously solely interviewed for her perspective) decided not to speak a meaningful word on her involvement.

Sheryl gave non-committal answers the whole time, saying she only caught “bits and pieces” of Lance’s interview with Oprah — yeah right — and then made general comments about Lance’s confession, like, “The truth shall set you free.”

But when it came to the one question everyone wanted to know the answer to — whether she kept Lance’s doping a secret for all these years — Sheryl told ET she did not want to comment, saying the story was about Lance … not her.

No, the story wasn’t about her — but the interview was.

But you know, everyone needs some camera time. So good on you, Sheryl. We can go back to ignoring you now.

Bringing The Lies To The Big Screen

Americans For The Arts National Arts Awards 2006

Is there really a story to be told when the actual events are nothing more than… well, a story?

Director / screenwriter  J.J. Abrams seems to think so and has decided to bring forth Lance Armstrong and all of his current troubles to movie screens in the near future.

The biopic will reportedly be based on New York Times sportswriter Juliet Macur’s upcoming book Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong, to which the Lost producer and Paramount Pictures secured the movie rights, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The book is scheduled to be published in June.

Well, if Scary Movie 5 can somehow bring in some kind of draw, why can’t this one?

I would call Matthew McConaughey for the obvious lead role, but since he and Lance aren’t on the best of terms right now — he should totally do it anyway.

Lance Armstrong Wants Another Chance

LanceArmstrongOWN

Talk about cockiness to the fullest degree.

In the second part of Lance Armstrong’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, the fallen from grace cyclist honestly revealed that even though he cheated his way throughout his entire career, he should be given another chance to prove himself.

“I made my bed, but if there was ever a window, would I like to run the Chicago Marathon when I’m 50? I’d love to do that, but I can’t,” he lamented to Winfrey, calling his lifelong ban from competitive sport “a death penalty.” As in, his former teammates got temporary bans “and I got a death penalty.” And “I’m not saying that that’s unfair, necessarily, but I’m saying it’s different…I deserve to be punished. I’m not sure I deserve a death penalty.”

I’m pretty sure no one said he could never ride a bike again, but professionally, I think he pretty much showed the proper way of screwing himself royally. Someone needs to learn how to deal.

Check out the surprising remarks after the jump.

Lance Armstrong Is A Cheater – Period

LAOWN

Well, that’s that.

The hotly anticipated Lance Armstrong interview with Oprah Winfrey aired it’s first part last night and rather than drag things out over both parts (the second section airs tonight), the talk show mogul pretty much asked straightforward if the famed cyclist was guilty of taking any performance enhancing drugs throughout his career.

“Yes”, he answered to all five opening questions referring to whether or not he doped during his entire career, as well as had blood transfusions so he wouldn’t be found with the drugs in his system.

And yes, it was his entire career, including his seven Tour de France victories.

As for why he did it, the fallen from grace hero admitted that in his opinion, he wouldn’t be able to be as great as he was during those competitions.

Read on after the jump.
