Soul Train creator Don Cornelius was found dead after committing suicide this morning. He was 75.

Police say he died of a self-inflicted gunshot to his head.

TMZ reports:

We’re told cops discovered the body at around 4 a.m. PST. Law enforcement sources tell us … Cornelius died from a gunshot wound to the head and officials believe the wound was self-inflicted.

We’re told Cornelius was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“Soul Train” changed the landscape of television when it debuted in 1971 and ran until 2006.

Cornelius was suffering from “significant health issues” in 2009.

Sad news! But now we should take this time to look back at one of the many shining gems from the dance show that brought soul to Saturday mornings… ROSIE PEREZ dancing the famous Soul Train line dance!

Looks like the dancing gene runs in the Spears family! While some media outlets are reporting that Britney’s greatest wish is a daughter to carry on her legacy, it appears that the pop icon need look no further than her oldest son, Sean Preston.
