Solo “Direction”

Not everything is always what it seems.

Many girls screeched in utter shock late last week when a new One Direction song hit the internet — without four of it’s members.

The track, “Don’t Let Me Go” was sung by Harry Styles without his bandmates and had people wondering whether the 19-year-old was on his way to tracking his way to solo stardom.

But it was not the case: turns out the song was actually recorded in hopes of making it onto a One Direction album (more than likely their current release, Take Me Home) and that the boys of the group have done this before.

“Please note this is not a Harry Styles solo song,” a rep for the boy band said. “It was a demo they worked on over a year ago that was being considered for a One Direction song. Sometimes the boys write and record separately as they work on new material but please make it clear this is not a solo release.”

The track was written by songwriter Sam McCarthy (he’s playing instruments for the song) and when he learned of the track’s leaked, thanked Directioners for their support.

“Wow! Thanks for all the nice tweets about the song,” he tweeted. “Harry did most of the words I did the music.”

So, does it measure up? Find out for yourself and check out “Don’t Let Me Go” after the jump.

Prince Harry Defends Men Who Love Men

London Marathon 2013 - Presentations at the Finish of the Race - April 21, 2013

He may be pretty easy on the eyes to many gay men out there, but to one in particular, Prince Harry is much more than just a pretty face: he’s a hero.

Lance Corporal James Wharton, who served alongside the ginger prince during infantry practice back in 2008, thanked him for saving his life against others who threatened him with serious harm for being gay in his upcoming book, Out In The Army.

Over a four month period while stationed in Canada, Wharton claimed that he was “on track for a battering by six soldiers” during that time because of his sexuality and found the strength to approach Harry on what was happening.

“I told him: ‘I think I’m about to be murdered by the infantry,’” Wharton recalls. “I climbed into the turret and talked Harry through exactly what had happened. He had a complete look of bewilderment on his face. I didn’t hold back: I told him everything that had gone on. I couldn’t stop the tears from welling up in my eyes.”

According to Wharton, Harry purportedly took action swiftly.

“He said: ‘Right. I’m going to sort this s–t out once and for all.”

Harry then approached the crew and demanded they back off from causing any harm to Wharton, who initially thought he would make “the whole thing worse”.

Prince Harry was sticking up for me and putting a stop to the trouble”, he writes. “I had been on track for a battering and had been rescued.”

Wharton left the Army earlier this year, but believes without the infamous fun-loving Royal, he might not have lived to see today.

“I will always be grateful to Harry,” he told the Daily Mail, “and I will never forget what happened.”

Just another reason to adore him. Thank you, Harry!

The Yolk’s On You, Simon!

BGTEggs

Maybe she was anticipating a scathing criticism. Either way, a performance on this weekend’s finale of Britain’s Got Talent definitely had a little something extra.

An egg toss — directed at Simon Cowell.

30-year-old Natalie Holt, who appeared to be part of the singing ensemble on stage moved forward as the two men in her group were belting it out and began tossing eggs at Simon and fellow judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.

Holt was quickly removed from the stage and had the police called on her. However, there were no hard feelings as she wasn’t charged.

“I want to apologize to Richard and Adam (Johnson) for overshadowing their performance”, she released in a statement. “I’ve never done anything like this before and in hindsight I have realized it was a silly thing to do.”

Ever the wordsmith, Simon took to his Twitter following the performance to give his thoughts on the messy moment, caught live on air.

“I really don’t like eggs.”

I guess that’s understandable. Check out a clip of the craziness after the jump.

"America's Got Talent" Season 8 Hollywood Premiere Party - Arrivals

“Well, you know what, nobody thought we were going to get together last year to do the Olympics, and so, I always say I’m not gonna say anything. Just let whatever happens, happen. Why say ‘yes’ just yet? But maybe.”

85th Annual Academy Awards - Press Room

“I see that it gives you a sense of purpose that up till now I only really get from work. I want that. I don’t know when or [with whom] but I want it. And I’d like to get started on it before my thirties. I like the idea of being a youngish parent. So I’ve got energy to play football even though they’ll be better than me by the time they’re four.”

- Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe, wanting more than anything to be a father one day.
