Police say a pedestrian was attacked by a drunken elk in Sweden on Tuesday, and authorities say this wasn’t a first-time offense for the troublemaker with a penchant for booze.
According to reports, the elk was hiding behind a bakery when it suddenly attacked the victim. Police responded to a call about the hostile elk, and requested assistance from a game warden.
“The game warden recognized the elk. It usually walks around and eats apples, gets drunk, and then gets aggressive,” police spokesperson Björn Engström told reporters.
Fermented apples can cause many animals to become intoxicated if they are consumed, and often leads to highly antagonistic behavior.
Authorities captured the elk and decided to euthanize it because it was injured.
