Ladies everywhere like your mom or 5th grade teacher will now be able to afford pointy-bras just like Madonna, or wear tops with the boobs cut out–just like Madonna and other tight black, fetishy apparel now that Jean Paul Gaultier’s line for Target has been given the greenlight. Following in the footsteps of other high end designers who have turned to discount wear for the masses, Gaultier will join Anna Sui, Alexander McQueen and a slew of others who’ve hopped on the Target bargain bandwagon.
Target tells WWD: “Jean Paul Gaultier for Target pays tribute to the American woman, celebrating the forces of style both past and present in American pop culture.”
Gaultier’s collection will be the most exclusive of the Target lot, only going on sale in about 250 Target stores nationwide and online starting March 7. By comparison, Anna Sui’s line was sold in 600 stores.
