The new Dancing With the Stars cast was announced today on Good Morning America, and among the bold face names are Macy Gray, Kelly Osbourne, Aaron Carter and Mya.
I’m really shocked about Mya joining the cast, seeing as how she is a trained dancer–sort of. And she’s actually quite good at dancing. Remember Chicago? She was a Cell Block Tango dancer. Unfair much? Here’s a bio from her Wikipedia page:
She took ballet lessons from the age of two and added jazz and tap dancing lessons to her schedule two years later. She entered some dance competitions with her brother as a partner, and then joined the Tappers With Attitude troop as a ten-year-old. Her tap dancing skills led to an opportunity to study with one of the best-known tap dancers in the country, Savion Glover of the Dance Theater of Harlem, when he came to Washington for a workshop. Glover later chose Mýa for a solo spot in a dance performance at the Kennedy Center.

still!…..she not a trained ball room dancer….stop hatin…..if the show doesnt have problems with mya , you shouldnt either.
saying Mya has an unfair advantage is the same thing as handing an NFL quarterback a baseball and assuming that because he can throw a football he will automatically be able to pitch a no hitter in baseball-both balls (don’t be dirty), but with no relation to the other- well it is the same thing with dancing- and in this case MYA and ballroom!
mya definitely has an unfair advantage. she is a professionally trained, well rounded dancer. as a dancer myself, i know that when one is as well trained as she is, it is so much easier to pick up other styles of dancing. ballroom is very similar to jazz and ballet. how can you compare mya to the other cast members? she is head and neck above them, which is unfair. plus, the fact that abc and mya herself try to conceal her multi dance background is shady. i am watching the first episode today and mya says she’s done tap but never ballroom. ummm, how about revealing all the other extensive dance training you’ve had? although it’s no secret, a lot of people don’t know and they’re riding on that to not stir up controversy.
