Congrats go out to Miley Cyrus!!! A trusted source at ABC tells me that she’s set to perform a tribute to Michael Jackson’s Thriller as the show’s last act in their Summer Concert series–an unannounced date of August 28. The last-minute addition happened during the aftermath of Michael Jackson’s death.

Okay, now’s the tricky part–so please pay close attention and keep an open mind, despite other FALSELY reported tabloid rumors. According to my well trusted source, originally, Joe Simpson had approached Good Morning America before the Miley Cyrus camp had, and expressed interest in having Jessica Simpson (yes JESSICA) perform a Michael Jackson tribute. It’s THAT conversation and negotiations that led to the false reports that Ashlee Simpson was to record a Michael Jackson cover album–a claim Ashlee denied.

Once Miley Cyrus’s people contacted GMA, the whole Jessica Simpson tribute was jettisoned for a sure-to-be ratings winner, Miley. It’s also a know fact among Miley-followers that the 16-year-old is a long-time fan of Jackson’s.

Sadly for Jessica Simpson, this is the second time she’s been dumped this month–professionally and personally–now that Tony Romo dropped her too.
