Veteran actor Dennis hopper, who is now 73, starred acting at the age of 17 and has gone on to star in more than 100 movies and a slew of theater and tv gigs. But there’s no slowing down for him. He’s leading in Starz series Crash–based on the Oscar-winning film–and recently received a special exhibit in France’s cinematheque museum for his artwork and collections. He also was awarded with France’s Legion of Honor–the country’s highest award. He was profiled in CBS Sunday Morning today and he revealed some WTF facts about his life:

• At 18 he banged West Side Story legend Natalie Wood while filming Rebel Without a Cause.

• He’s a lifelong artist and collector (and quite good at both, might I add). He bought Andy Warhol’s first soup can painting for $75, and also bought Roy Lichtenstein’s Sinking Sun for $1100 out of Roy’s studio. He said that it sold last year for $17.8 million, but he didn’t see any of it because one of his four ex-wives won the painting in a divorce settlement. Bitch.
• He was married for 8 days to Mamas and the Papas singer Michelle Phillips.
• He was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar playing an alcoholic basketball coach in Hoosiers
• He was an alcoholic and drug addict for more than 20 years

DENNIS HOPPER: My last 5 years of drinking I was drinking ½ gallon of rum with a 1/5 of rum on the side each day, 28 beers and 3 grams of cocaine just to maintain.
REPORTER: There’s a story that you went out raving in the jungle in Mexico when you were making a film.
DH: Yeah, that’s true.
