A Wichita, Kansas man was beaten by his drug dealer after he discovered he duped him out of several hundred dollars worth of crack cocaine using Monopoly money, police say.

According to reports, police stopped a man for a traffic violation on Thursday evening, only to find the 33-year-old victim bleeding from the head. But his explanation for the injury was a bizarre tale.

The victim told police that weeks earlier he purchased several hundred dollars of crack cocaine with Monopoly money, and the dealer attacked him as retribution.

“The man from whom he had bought the drugs was upset and invited him over to his house and upon arrival struck him in the head several times with a handgun and other people jumped into the fray,” said Gordon Bassham with the Wichita Police Department.

The victim escaped without serious injury, but police say he’s uncooperative in helping them apprehend the suspect.
