2012 Teen Choice Awards - Arrivals

All of those hopes and dreams your little girl might’ve shared with Taylor Swift via a fan letter (which apparently, still happens in the age of Twitter) may have never actually gotten to her: a bunch of unopened notes sent to the country superstar were found in a trash bin via a Nashville elementary school.

A young girl by the name of Kylee Francescan stumbled across the love notes when she went to toss something away herself.

“There were like hundreds of letters in there to Taylor Swift and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh!’ I didn’t know if they were stolen [or] discarded”, she told a local new station. “So I threw them in a box… and I’m like, ‘Somebody needs to let Taylor know.’”

An elementary school girl knew what “discarded” meant — yeah, I believe that.

The news station reached out to Swift Inc. and found that all fan mail is sent to a P.O. Box in a strip mall that is eventually picked up by someone.

They were also told that Swift receives loads of letters each day and that the letters are all read and then, “recycled”.

The rep continued, ”The only explanation for any letters being unopened would be that a small batch of mail that was supposed to be delivered to Taylor was accidentally put with letters headed for the recycling center. We sincerely appreciate Channel 2 [the news station] bringing this to our attention, and we plan to immediately pick up the mail.”

Do yourself a favor, Taylor fans if any of you are left: save a tree and hashtag it in the future.
