On this morning’s Good Morning America, the newest members of the ballroom blitz known as Dancing With The Stars were announced and the mix of characters for the upcoming sixteenth season looks — well, a little odd, to be honest.
As previously rumored, American Idol’s Kellie Pickler and Baltimore Ravens’ Jacoby Jones were indeed confirmed to take their spins on the dance floor — but the somewhat surprising addition of comedian Andy Dick was definitely a surprise: the 46-year old comedian has a habit of being quite the loose cannon both figuratively and literally — we’ve all come across those pics of him whipping out certain parts of his body that are better off hidden on the interwebs.
Another country superstar, Wynonna Judd, boxer Victor Ortiz and Real Housewife Lisa Vanderpump are also on board for this year.
Of course, the one person not on this list (as previously mentioned) is professional hottie Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who recently announced he wouldn’t participate on the series anymore following seven years on the show.
You can find out his full reason via a statement, as well as the entire cast of this season’s participants after the jump.
If you were keeping score with the original story, the 33-year-old admitted to ABC staff that he wanted to pursue other “entertainment opportunities” and in his statement, it’s pretty much the same babble.
“I just want to set the record straight to all of my amazing fans that I will unfortunately not be returning for this season of Dancing with the Stars,” he said. “I’ve been a Pro dancer on the show for about seven years now and am eager to explore other opportunities that have been made possible because of Dancing with the Stars.”
“I’m going to take this time to dive into producing and acting, while fulfilling my sponsorship obligations,” Maksim added. “A big thank you to all of my fans for your never-ending support. I also want to thank the entire cast and production of Dancing with the Stars.”
Don’t fret, though: his very sexy brother, Valentin (a.k.a. Val) will indeed be on this year’s show, so you’ll get your fix either way.
