In a not so shocking move, the two Australian DJs who were blamed in causing a British nurse to commit suicide have officially had their radio show, Hot 30 on Australian radio station, Today FM cancelled.
Both Mel Greig and Michael Christian, the two jockeys involved in the prank call to King Edward VII Hospital where duchess Kate Middleton was staying for early complications in her pregnancy, were immediately suspended following the notice of the death of nurse Jacintha Saldana, who was said to have been greatly disturbed in causing a breach in security. However, the two will remain employees at the station.
“We look forward to Mel and MC returning to work when the time is right, in roles that make full use of their talents,” said Southern Cross Austereo’s CEO Rhys Holleran. “We will discuss future roles with them when they are ready.”
A different DJ has been filling the slot since the incident six weeks ago.
Let’s hope everyone involved can finally move on from this unfortunate tragedy.
