I say it all of the time: there are too many people leaving this world all too quickly and violently.

Famed boxer, Hector “Macho” Camacho was pulled off of life support and passed away this morning following a drive-by shooting in Puerto Rico earlier this week. He was only 50 years old.

On Tuesday evening, Camacho and a close childhood friend, were hit by gunfire while they sat inside a car. The friend was pronounced dead at the scene; Camacho, who was shot in the face, was hospitalized and put on life support.

Dr. Ernesto Torres, director of the Centro Medico trauma center in Puerto Rico, said Camacho went into cardiac arrest early Saturday. He was then taken off life support and died shortly thereafter.
Although his life in the ring was pretty stellar (79 wins, 6 losses and 3 draws), he had a hard one outside of it: he had quite a few legal troubles, including another shooting, a child abuse case (where he allegedly stomped on his son) and a burglary of a Mississippi computer store, where police found Ecstasy on him.
May he find the peace that alluded him in this life.
