File this under “things we saw coming”.

Remember that huge accident hot mess queen Lindsay Lohan got back into in June, where she crashed a rented Porsche into the back of an 18-wheeler? Remember how she lied after the accident and said she wasn’t driving, even though there were loads of witnesses and her assistant even said differently?

Well, it’s all caught up to her and she will be charged with a misdemeanor by the Santa Monica City Attorney’s Office.

The charge could spell huge trouble for Lindsay, because she’s currently on probation for the jewelry heist.  The criminal filing could trigger a probation violation, and Judge Stephanie Sautner– the jewelry judge — could send her to the slammer for a long, long time.

She got off a bit luckier than expected: turns out they wanted to charge her for drug possession after finding loads of pills scattered inside the car and trunk. However, it turns out Lindsay was prescribed those legally, so they backed off of that.

So whose to blame for the lie? Well, of course, Lilo herself:

…after the accident, Lindsay went to the hospital where she was interviewed by cops, and that’s when she told them she wasn’t behind the wheel.  Her lawyer, Shawn Holley, made a mad dash for the hospital to muzzle her client, but she was a few minutes too late.

Oh, Lindsay; you never disappoint.
