Now, I actually didn’t watch the Comedy Central Roseanne Barr Roast last night (I’ll explain that more in a few postings from now), but I’m pretty sure that the jokes were racy, slightly overboard and downright crude at times, as most Roasts tend to go.

But even I have to wonder where this all stemmed from.

Comedian Wayne Brady took the stage at the show and made a joke over Sarah Palin‘s son, Trig that left most of the crowd offended enough to boo at him.

Singling out fellow roaster Jeff Ross (who made quite the offensive joke himself), Wayne said:

“Now the thing is Jeff … these are all jokes, and I really like you. I really, really like you. But a lot of people hate you, especially Sarah Palin because you remind her of what Trig is going to look like when he’s 40.”

Trig was born with Down’s Syndrome, something the crowd obviously knew and didn’t like Wayne playing on.

More after the jump.

It was then that Wayne took offense himself, spewing out to the crowd this harsh diatribe:

“Oh, now you boo me? F*ck y’all. I don’t want to hear that. These people say all of this sh*t about me, and you boo me because of Trig?”

Here’s my question: obviously, there had to be some things left on the cutting room floor (we already know of the one joke that was) and these Roasts are notorious for leaving nothing off-limits, including race jokes.

I have a huge feeling the other Roasters definitely played on Wayne being black and everyone had a laugh at his expense. So was it only fair that Wayne did the same thing by using a joke that probably wouldn’t fly anywhere else or should he have known better?
