Well, it’s about four movies too late, but at least someone finally did it.
Bill Condon, director of the final two Twilight movies, Breaking Dawn Parts 1 and 2, released a statement in EW this week regarding the Kristen Stewart cheating scandal, telling millions of fans something they should’ve realized from the beginning: Robert Pattinson and K-Stew aren’t really Edward Cullen and Bella Swan.
“The fact is, these are actors playing parts, and maybe it’s not such a bad thing that people be reminded of that. Both of these actors gave heart and soul to the Twilight movies, not only during shooting, but also by navigating so graciously the whole life-in-a-fishbowl aspect of the phenomenon.
Above all they have always shown great respect for the fans who made these movies such a success. Now it’s time that some of that respect be returned to them.”
More info after the jump.
With the final movie in the saga coming to theaters in about 3 months, it seems like Lionsgate and Summit are doing all they can to protect their main investment.
“While it is studio policy not to comment on the personal lives of actors” said Summit Nancy Kirkpatrick; the head of Summit’s worldwide marketing, “Summit is moving full steam ahead.”
Going to be an interesting couple of weeks for the heartbroken one as well: Robert is set to appear on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart and Good Morning America on August 13th and 15th, respectfully.
