The Jacksons: Katherine Wants Half
Following her return from a 10-day spa vacation that her grandkids weren’t even aware she was taking, Katherine Jackson has decided to allow TJ Jackson (her grandson; Michael’s Jackson‘s kids’ cousin) to raise the children without incident — but wants to share the guardianship role with him.
TMZ spoke to Perry Sanders, Katherine’s lawyer and he told them that she planned to file a joint guardianship request with the courts early next week.
“That pleading will essentially now legally reflect how Mrs. Jackson and TJ have often shared responsibilities of raising the children since Michael Jackson’s tragic passing.”
More info after the jump.
According to the lawyer, Michael’s kids (Prince, Paris and Blanket) are behind the deal as well.
If approved, TJ will deal with the day-to-day raising of the children while Katherine will “then be freed up to focus on the more personal everyday decision making related to the lives and activities of the children.”
It also leaves her solely in charge of the family’s allowance — about $70,000 monthly. Yeah, you knew money was involved.
The arrangement also makes it much easier for TJ to become sole guardian should Katherine pass on while the kids are still underage (Prince is currently 15, Paris is 14 and Blanket is 10).
“Mrs. Jackson is extremely pleased with the prospect of enjoying the pleasure of raising Michael’s children”; he closed with, “without the day-to-day tedium of items such as managing the large staff that goes with such a high profile family and focus her attention on being a grandmother and raising Michael’s children.”
Um… then why did you want the kids in the first place?
*remembers the money* Oh, right.
TJ officially petitioned for sole custody yesterday.
In other Jackson news… Randy now believes his brother’s estate is trying to kill his mother.
Oh, Lord…
