This would’ve been a great way to cap the night, if it actually aired on television… but TMZ has the video, so we’ll call it even.

Hip-hop icon and reality show star Flavor Flav decided to attempt to upstage the infamous Macy’s Independence Day staple when he and some of his Las Vegas neighbors decided to light up some fireworks. A lot of fireworks.

TMZ reports on the story:

Long story short — Flav and some of his Las Vegas neighbors set off a TON of fireworks in the middle of the street … and not surprisingly, the noise (and the giant fireworks in the sky) attracted the local police.

When cops arrived … they sifted their way through the smoke and located Flav, who was still clutching a lighter in his hand.

However, Flav was on his best behavior when the cops approached him: he handed over his I.D. and was asked to stop lighting the fireworks and walked off unscathed.

Flav gave a statement to TMZ:

“We had a good time watching my fireworks show and everything ended safely. Cops came a few times but didn’t arrest me … thank God (and the police)!!”

In other words: YEEEAH, BOYEEEE!!!
