I suppose you can’t really complain about new dudes on stage, but is this a bit too much too soon?
Reid Carolin, the screenwriter behind “Magic Mike” (a.k.a. the “Channing Tatum Shows His Goodies” movie) tells USA Today that there is a possibility the film may be headed to the Great White Way (that would be Broadway) in the near future.
“More of a romp, more of a fun night out at a club with a story. I’m almost more excited about that than the movie because I think it’s the perfect thing for women to go see on Broadway, to be participants in the show.”
I feel like we’ve heard of this before. Oh, yeah… “Chippendale’s”. More info after the jump.
One sexy beast who wouldn’t mind being a part of it: Joe Manganiello, the “True Blood” sex god who plays –oh, I’m going to love this one– “Big Dick Richie” in the film. He spoke to EW about possibly being a part of the stage show:
“I’d put the thong on again. I wouldn’t be opposed.” But he knows what he’s in for: “An audience participation musical — I’d be nervous with the New York theater crowd. If the girls in L.A. rip Matthew McConaughey’s thong off, I don’t know WHAT the Broadway audience would do to us. We wouldn’t make it out of there. You’d have to have understudies for all of us because we’d have claw marks.”
You know what? I remove any hesitation I had about this if Joe is gonna be a part of it.
“Magic Mike” hits the screens this Friday, June 29th.
