Chris Brown vs. Drake: It Still Isn’t Over
Raise your hand if you’re kind of over this already.
It’s OK; I don’t need to see all of you to know that the whole Chris Brown/Drake debacle is officially becoming “the story that won’t die”.
To all that haven’t been following: the two artists were at a nightclub in NYC. Words were apparently exchanged through a note and a bottle of champagne, then the bottles were thrown. Chris was hurt. There was chaos, etc.
There have been a few more developments since the story dropped, so here’s the latest:
- NBA star Tony Parker (a.k.a. Eva Longoria’s ex-husband) was also present that night at the club and was injured by broken glass from the flying bottles. “The cornea has been touched. I can’t do anything for seven days” But I was lucky. The injury won’t prevent me from competing in the Olympics in any way.” (Parker is set to join the Olympic basketball team on June 20th.)
- The NYC Council is now pushing forth to see if bottle service needs to be changed following the craziness: “I am deeply concerned by reports of the bottle throwing melee that injured more than five people in SoHo this week”, said City Council Speaker Christine Quinn in a statement regarding an emergency meeting that will take place this week with her office, the NYPD and the nightlife industry. This also follows with more people stepping forward, claiming that they too were injured in the fight, with some threatening legal action against the nightclub, Chris and Drake.
- Although rumors sparked that Drake would be arrested at a show he did last night for refusing to speak on the fight without his lawyer present (they were proven false), there was at least one factor that was put on lockdown this weekend: the club itself.
- The W.i.P. nightclub has been shut down indefinitely, according to TMZ. They were told by law enforcement officials that the Civil Enforcement Unit (a sector of the NYPD) had been looking into violations that the club had before the ruckus that took place late Wednesday/early Thursday, but due to it, looked further into said violations.
Is it really that serious, guys? Come on; I get it. Rihanna‘s pretty and all, but there are other girls. Let it go and move on.
