Even the “hardest” of rappers have feelings, yo.

At last night’s Summer Jam, a concert held annually by NYC hip-hop station Hot 97, Nicki Minaj exited the arena without ever stepping foot on stage for the concert, which she was headlining.

The drama all went down when DJ Peter Rosenberg attacked Minaj’s single Starships while presenting another rapper at last night’s show. “We’re all about that real hip-hop. I know there are some chicks in here waiting to sing along with Starships later. I’m not talking to y’all right now. F— that bulls—.”

To anyone else, it would’ve probably been laughed off considering Minaj’s success (well, maybe not Lil’ Kim). However, Lil’ Wayne, who heads up Young Money Entertainment; Nicki’s main record label didn’t find the funny in it and signed onto his Twitter account to announce his disappointment and punishment for the waiting crowd of 50,000+ at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey:

“Young Money ain’t doing summer jam.”

Nicki chimed in with her own Tweet not long afterward:

“The President has spoken. I go above and beyond for my fans. But won’t ever go against wayne’s word. What he says, goes.”

The most messed up part about it was that it also meant that rappers DJ Khaled and Busta Rhymes (who recently signed with the label) were out for the night, too. But all was not lost: surprise guest Lauryn Hill of “Fugees” fame was able to keep the crowd moving.

It’s funny that Nicki compares herself to Barbie, because this was truly the most childish thing I’ve ever heard of in my life. Way to please the fans, people.
