Zooey Deschanel is not having a very happy new year. The actress filed for divorce from Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard just two days after Christmas, and now papers are being filed to determine how best to split the couple’s assets.

According to radio show Kidd Kraddick in the Morning, Deschanel’s lawyers have disclosed just how much the actress is raking in; and while we may not know Gibbard’s net worth, it’s safe to say that Deschanel will be taking a significant financial hit in the divorce.

According to official documents, Deschanel has a net worth of over $3 million and earns $95,000 a month, presumably from her hit Fox show, The New Girl. In fact, Zooey has already taken the first step in imitating Jess, the character she portrays on the show, by splitting from her man. Now all she needs is three male roommates, and she can turn her life into a quirky, hilarious mess (just like on TV!).
