Man trapped under sofa survived drinking whiskey

Here’s a fine example for us all: A 65-year-old British man who became trapped under his sofa, survived the nearly three-day-long calamity by drinking whiskey, the BBC reports.

The bottle of whiskey, which had rolled within reach, was his only means of survival for 60 hours while pinned to the floor.

I especially enjoy his quote while interviewed on the matter, “I took a sip of [the whiskey] and thought, well this isn’t too bad.” And he’s keeping another bottle of whisky by the sofa “just in case.”

My thoughts exactly. And maybe a copy of “Inches,” y’know–just in case.

A concerned neighbor discovered his ordeal after peering through the man’s window, which had curtains not drawn for two days, the neighbor said.
